Anne O’Shea

Founder & Principal Strategist

(she/her)

Hello, great to meet you.

I founded Craft Strategic to help public and non-profit organizations deepen their impact. I partner with teams like yours to develop strategy, evaluate and align services, and build exceptional teams. I know how challenging it is to step back and look at the big picture, and I’m here to help you do it!

I’ve spent more than 20 years in public and non profit organizations leading teams, facilitating planning processes, and designing and managing services. Like you, I’m passionate about helping people and making a difference. I know that growing need, expanding services and limited resources make it challenging to identify the most impactful work. It’s even harder to find the time to evaluate, reframe and iterate while keeping operations and services running. It became clear to me that many organizations need help identifying their highest-level goals and developing the strategies, teams and programs to achieve them - and that’s what I am really good at!

With a background in social impact strategy, a toolbox of evidence-based approaches, a warm and inclusive style and a deep commitment to helping social purpose organizations succeed, I am here to help you and your team grow and make meaningful impact.

Service

I give back to my profession, peers and community. I represent British Columbians on the board of the Knowledge Network, BC’s publicly funded TV broadcaster and streaming service, mentor in the Canadian Urban Libraries Council’s Public Library Leaders program, and previously served on the Digital Content Working Group, which advocates for legislative and policy solutions to protect public access to digital content. I was a member of the 2022 Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference, travelling across Canada with my team, learning from the approaches and experiences of other sectors and regions.

Social impact and justice, equity, diversity and inclusion

Social impact is the art and science of designing for and measuring how our work impacts people and communities. If equity isn’t at the heart of all we do, we aren’t doing it right. I’m committed to centering justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in my work, and am continuously applying new learnings in my practice. I’ve supported decolonization efforts, inclusion campaigns for gender diverse communities, and policy and funding strategies aimed at dismantling existing inequities. Regardless of the scope or focus of our work together, JEDI will inform and guide our process.

Collaboration

I have a deep network of specialists and experts, and love to collaborate. From co-facilitators to data analysts, marketing experts, change managers, economic development practitioners, researchers and coaches, I draw on my network when needed to assemble an approach and team to meet your unique needs.

Place

My work takes me across Canada, but in my personal time, you can find me exploring coastlines, fjords and inlets with my family and my dogs, on foot or in my kayak. My work takes place on the unceded territories of the Snuxneymux nation and Indigenous nations across Turtle Island.
